Even better ... they have created a Web page to track the progress
of domain name registration. Melbourne IT says it's in an experimental
phase. The page is at the following URL:

Unfortunately, the data is incorrect for, example, patonpartners.com.au,
which I just received confirmation of completion today:

"Your registration of the domain name patonpartners.com.au has been
approved
 by the admin of the domain com.au, hostmaster&#167;munnari.OZ.AU."

BUT the Domain Name Licence Query Tool says:

      patonpartners.com.au
      Results as of 22/04/97 23:16:12
       
      Domain Name patonpartners.com.au has status UNKNOWN OR INVALID
DOMAIN NAME 

      Result at Wed Apr 23 14:39:42 EST 1997 

Hmmmm.
