auDA takes all feedback into account, including that received via this list. We realise the list archives have been unavailable for some time, we are working to restore them and they will be available on our website as soon as possible at http://www.auda.org.au/list/dns/archive/ Having said that, I would still encourage people to submit formal comments to auDA for posting on our website. It simply makes it easier for us and others to keep track of public feedback on a particular document or issue. It would be truly unfortunate if AuDA were to only consider 'formal' submissions as those being relevant or actionable... this is an issue that impacts on a far wider audience than the few 'players' who are up to speed with internal AuDA procedures - and I really don't believe that citing a failure to follow a bureaucratic process should be sufficient reason to discount opinions received by other means (such as this list). In closing, no, AuDA cannot make laws... but you can certainly set guidelines and seek formal acceptance of the guidelines by companies wishing to participate in the practical elements of Australian Domain Administration - after all, isn't this what industry self-regulation is all about?
