Leave the bad com.au partners and their bad practices alone, and focus on the real issue here - that AuDA and the public comment bit didn't actually raise anything about a freely-run registry for the historically (and hopefully future) free 2LDs inside Australia. Right now I'm just focusing on trying to keep asn.au, id.au and org.au free. I do believe that AuDA is doing the right thing in regards to com.au and net.au, and I do believe that their work is going to open up competition and an overall improvement in those 2LDs. However, asn.au, id.au and org.au should not be turned into a commercial playground. asn.au is a shining sample of a well-run volunteer-staffed registry which shows that a group of volunteers CAN run a registry that will handle the small load that asn.au, org.au and id.au will generate.
