That's a different issue, and I agree that it would have been less controversial had auDA chosen a different strategy. It would have been better to give the resellers the option, as MIT have done. My reaction was you comparing auDA to ING, which I think was uncalled for. With all the SPAM that we all receive and the way in which most people view things that they do not know, it's not wonder that I have spend most of my day on the phone just explaining that auDA do not want them to take their business to Melb IT. It was a bad move to email out to people as a once off, unless they know who you are and exactly what you want, I would say that most registrants see and registrar name and hit delete or the from address as auDA and hit delete. It means nothing to a lot of people if it's not know Regards, Michael-Pappas. > As an observer here, let me say that the big difference between auDA > and ING is that auDA is not soliciting business > > Ron Stark > > -----Original Message----- > From: Marco Botros [mailto:mehanna§tpg.com.au] > Sent: Tuesday, 2 July 2002 4:57 PM > To: ceo§auda.org.au > Cc: dns§lists.auda.org.au > Subject: [DNS] Re: anydomain.com.au > > > Dear auDA, > > To be honest, I am disappointed, > > With MIT, I do have a choice it seems about how > to inform my clients of the new transition: > >>>Please find below a copy of the message that Melbourne IT will be > sending on Monday 24th June, 2002 to the administrative e-mail contact > of all .com.au domains that are currently managed under reseller > accounts. > > If you would not like Melbourne IT to send this communication to the > com.au registrants on your reseller account, simply reply to this e- > mail adding the word OPTOUT to end of the subject line, by COB today. > > If you choose the opt out option, we request that you convey this > information to your customers as soon as practicable. >>>>>>>>>>>> > > But with auDA, It seems I do not and you around telling every admin > contract of any domain under our management with emails like this: > >>>>auDA's new Australian domain name regime and com.au names > .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) is the government-endorsed manager > of Australian domain names (see http://www.auda.org.au). >>>>>>> > > What makes you different from ING, you seems to have went directly to > our clients anyway. this question needs to be answered!!! :-( > > regards, > > Marco Botros > Operations Manager > Spirit Servers > mehanna§spiritservers.com.au > http://spiritservers.com.au > > ******************************************************* > Spirit Servers, "A Solid, Reliable .dotHosting". > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: auDA Info <info§auda.org.au> > To: <domain§spiritservers.com.au> > Sent: Wednesday, July 03, 2002 3:29 AM > Subject: hostpro.com.au > > > auDA's new Australian domain name regime and com.au names > .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) is the government-endorsed manager > of Australian domain names (see > http://www.auda.org.au). > > You are being sent this email because you are listed in the com.au > database as the administrative contact for the above > com.au name. > > This email contains important information about the above domain name. > If you are no longer the administrative contact > and you know who has replaced you, please urgently forward this email > to them.
