> It's accepted practise in the retail trade that MANUFACTURERS do NOT > directly contact consumers, but deal through the agents. That accuracy of that statement is entirely consistent with all others from the same source. Having spent 20 years in management with major manufactureres such as Unilever and Coca-Cola, I can assure people that the issue of manufacturers dealing direct with consumers and cutting out the middleman has always been a major souce of contention with their agents / wholesalers / retailers. From time to time, from company to company, the pendulum swings between "we'll let our agents / wholesalers / retailers handle the customers" to "we'll contact the customers directly". I'm confident the same thing will happen in the Registrar / Reseller space, because the reasons & motivations are no different. Expect different strategies to be pursued by different Registrars at different times regarding who contacts the customer about what. Do not be surprised at inconsistency.
