Has anyone got any tips on how to increase the chances of snapping up a
generic on Thursday morning?

I'm fearing that those closest to the source (ie. Registrars) are more
likely to assist their friends in getting what they want, before the average
john doe on the street has any chance...

I notice that Melbourne IT have been spamming their customer base offering a
special "VIP Generic" service.  Is anyone else offering a similar service?
