au: Technology gets personal
THE practice of settling disputes online is soaring,
as technology is increasingly accepted as a useful
tool in resolving everything from family quarrels to
native title arguments. A Melbourne University survey,
presented at the UN's third annual online dispute
resolution forum earlier this month, shows that more
than 1.5 million disputes have been resolved online in
the past year.

Research into Online Alternative Dispute Resolution
Exploration Report prepared for the Department of
Justice, Victoria
This Report is necessarily a work in progress. The
next stages of this Project are a Needs Assessment and
Final Report. In the meantime, the ICRC recommends
that the findings of this Exploration Report be
disseminated widely to stimulate debate. Ideally this
would be through a user-friendly Discussion Paper.
