gk/us: OTENET Webmail Stolen By Greek ISP
Baou, Inc., claims the WIPO had once again
demonstrated an inability to consider ‘the facts’
without prejudice or with any degree of consistency.
An application filed by a Greek ISP in connection with
two domain names [otenet.com and otenet.org]. They
claimed they were unaware of Baou's use until quite
recently, despite the fact that they had attempted to
purchase the domain names three times since 1998, when
the domain names were originally registered a Baou
subsidiary.

ICANN: Public Comment Forum for New Registry Services
Draft Procedure Request for Comments
Public Comment Forum on the Draft Initial Report v4
Process for use by ICANN in considering requests for
consent and related contractual amendments to allow

registry.

The Philosophical Case for Expanding the Domain Name
Space
It seems to me that the case for new generic top-level
domains is overstated. There are very few entities
that are not already serviced by the existing TLD
space. But there are plenty of companies who want to
make money running a registry and lots of marketing
people who want to make money selling new TLDs. That
said, there is also a real need to grow the namespace
to meet the demands of Internet users.

Sitting Around the Domain Table
I went to Domain Roundtable with some reservations. I
was excited about meeting other domain portfolio
holders, but I wasn't sure what to expect from the
ICANN and Verisign people there, the corporate
intellectual property people, and the corporate
attorneys. I was pleasantly surprised by everyone I
met. Chris Sheridan from Verisign was hilarious during
Domain Sponsor's casino night, and asked some really
sharp questions during presentations. Many of the
attorneys agreed that it was better to send "gentle
cease and desist letters" or even make informal
contact with alleged cybersquatting domainers rather
than send the traditional "nasty" C&D letter.

Keep control of your domain name
If the Web is the front door to your small business or
home business, losing control of your Internet domain
name can be catastrophic.

Finding web sites on the net
To access a host (i.e., a computer connected to the
Internet), you need to use its address. Every host has
two addresses. Note that a host could be a Web server,
FTP server, or other. The two addresses are the IP
address and the name address.
