What's going on between NTIA, ICANN and Verisign? by Milton Mueller

Yesterday the US Government announced an extension of the IANA functions
contract for another year. The move formally recognizes what everyone knew
already, which is that the IANA stewardship transition and accountability
reforms will not be completed in time for the September 30, 2015 target that
we were aiming for when the transition was set in motion back in March 2014.
The 1-year extension was for a longer period than some of us anticipated,
but the contract can be ended sooner if the parties agree.

The 2015 Names Policy Panel has released its draft recommendations about the

directly under .au (such as abc.au or myname.au). This has not been possible

If you're inside a company with one or more gTLDs, you likely have been
budgeting for continued costs associated with the acquisition of the gTLD.
Once you sign your Registry Agreement and move into operational mode, the
budget you need will shift and the way you think about that budget is
important for the long-term positioning of the asset within the financial
structure of the organization.

More .au options for all Australians or not - the pointy end of the naming
panel process

The 2015 Names Policy Panel has released its draft recommendations about the
use and allocation of .au domain names, the most notable of which is a
proposal that Australians should be allowed to register domain names
directly under .au (such as abc.au or myname.au). This has not been possible
in Australia before.

Budgeting for Dot Brands by Jennifer Wolfe

If you're inside a company with one or more gTLDs, you likely have been
budgeting for continued costs associated with the acquisition of the gTLD.
Once you sign your Registry Agreement and move into operational mode, the
budget you need will shift and the way you think about that budget is
important for the long-term positioning of the asset within the financial
structure of the organization.
