I have to comment, with my end user had on, that I was doing some domain name research yesterday and it was a very slow process. Previous user process: - issue whois - note email New user process: - issue whois - note referal - copy url - flip to browser - be put off by unusual whois input format - paste url - hit button - be confronted by captcha when expecting results - squint at screen and enter - get results - scan for email and note Tedious, no end. Yes, we need to keep the bots out of the emails but it doesn't need to be this unfriendly! With my process flow designer hat on, I would suggest the following is more appropriate: - issue whois - click on displayed link including domain name - land on page with fewer distractions (whether auda, ausregistry or registrar, and it would seem fair to give registrar the option of being presented for their own registrations) - enter captcha - see results with only links underlined. Having the headings underlined is a major breech of user conventions For the ausregistry page itself, if it is insisted that the landing page must be there, I would make the following suggestions: - change the landing page to a whois-specific page - which would have the whois in the content area, rather than the sidebar area - include the captcha in the first page - ditto the above on underlining headings HIH, because I really want this to change as I do a fair bit of domain research to check competition for clients and the current presentation sucks :( warmly, Lea -- Lea de Groot Elysian Systems Brisbane, AustraliaReceived on Sat Nov 25 2006 - 23:15:36 UTC
